2018/2019 Soccer

We had two co-ed soccer teams, Sub-Novice (2nd-4th grade) and Squirt (2nd grade & under).

The Squirt team, made up of 16 boys & girls, was coached by new coaches, Jeanna Singh and Pablo Gutierrez. At this age level, CYO doesn’t keep an official score, but our kids worked hard in practice, and it showed in their growth in games. They learned the fundamentals of the game, while having fun making new friends. Even with the large majority of the kids playing soccer for the first time, the team celebrated a lot of success on the field.

The Sub-Novice team was made up of 16 boys and girls, most of whom were returning from last year’s team, with just a few new additions. With coaches Daniel Madrazo and Alex Gonzalez, the team finished the regular season with 9 wins and 1 loss. With many dominating wins, the kids were able to try playing new positions during games, which resulted in more than half the team scoring goals this season. The skill level from last year to this year saw immense growth. The players learned how to stay in positions on the field, and make better passes to their teammates. The team lost a heart-breaker game 3-2 in Over Time in the Diocesan Quarter-Finals of the Playoffs.
